Paeonia clusii

Paeonia clusii subsp. clusii sometimes known as Cretan white peony is without doubt one of the most beautiful flowers of Crete. You can only find it in a very few places (here in a forest high above Anopolis) and its very short flowering period makes it even more of a rarity.

I have been watching this specific location for a number of years now and it is a pleasure to see that the bushes are becoming more numerous every year.

Paeonia clusii is endemic to Crete and Karpathos and flowers in April and May.
