Flowering thyme

Thymus capitatus is the most common but also the most important of the thymes since it contributes to the production of some of the best honey. It forms bushes which get covered in purplish pink flowers during the flowering season (June to August).

Thyme is one of the most common phrygana shrubs in Crete and is found in dry locations, phrygana and stony locations. It grows from sea level to an altitude of 2000 metres.
